5-Aminosalicylic Acid, the metabolite of sulphasalazine, has been shown to inhibit PGDH (prostaglandin 15-hydroxydehydrogenase) in human placenta and bovine lung. Further studies show that this antiinflammatory compound also inhibits leukotriene formation in human leukocytes.
